Testimonials

Your recital was glorious! More than just beautiful - sensitive, nuanced, passionate, endlessly engaging, both delicate and powerful. A thousand bravos.

—Carol Oberbrunner, Nov. 2021

Lana Stafford has been my son’s private flute lesson instructor for six years. During his time working with Lana, my son has blossomed as a flutist. His confidence has grown, as well as his ability to play complex pieces, and a passion for a life-long love of the flute has ignited within him. With Lana’s guidance, my son has traveled overseas to perform and joined the local youth orchestra. Lana is communicative, patient, extremely knowledgeable, and goes the extra mile for her students and their families. I could not recommend Lana as an instructor enough.

My experience working with Lana over the past three years has been so incredibly positive -it's hard to know where to begin!

Lana is such a tremendously dedicated and gifted flute teacher who has helped me overcome long standing beliefs about my limitations as a flautist, and to play with ever greater musicality, confidence, and joy.

One of Lana’s superpowers is her ability to quickly diagnose problem areas and recommend a variety of solutions that are always spot-on. But her talents as a teacher and coach extend so much further: For example, by guiding me through a comprehensive course of study that has included everything from discussions about breath, posture, and balance—to intensive analysis of and work on some of the most beautiful pieces in the flute literature—Lana has helped me to progress in my playing more than I had ever thought possible.

And Lana’s warm, collaborative and supportive teaching style always motivates me to work hard so that I can continue to improve both technically and artistically. My decision to invest in flute lessons with Lana is one of the best I’ve ever made, and my experience as her student continues to exceed my every expectation.

I highly recommend Lana Stafford to any prospective flute student, of any age or ability!
